Viola “Mae” Harvey, age 89, of Vandalia and formerly of New Carlisle, OH, passed away at 9:26 a.m. on January 31, 2022 in Vandalia.
Mae was born on October 25, 1932 in Miami County, OH, a daughter of the late Daniel J. and Alberta (Hesselgesser) Beck.
Mae married Melvin E. Harvey on January 24, 1953 and he preceded her in death on July 17, 2005. Mae is survived by a daughter, Mary Ann (Robert) Ousley of Vandalia, OH, two grandsons, Ryan McGinnis of Dayton, OH and Lucas Ingels of Tipp City, OH, and four great grandchildren: Madison, Bryant, Caden and Caleb. Her surviving siblings are Ellen Cardoza of Dayton, OH, Linda Parthemore of Sidney, OH, James Beck and Ronald (Shelly) Beck both of Springfield, OH.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by four sisters, Thelma Schroth, Mary Boyd, Barbara Stapleton, Joan Maddy, two brothers, Roger and Richard Beck and a great grandson, Jaxson Zynda.
Mae was a graduate of North Hampton School, North Hampton, OH. She attended the Lower Honey Creek Baptist Church of New Carlisle, OH. She worked at Braun Meat Packing and was an assembler at D.A.R.E Electronics both of Troy, OH. Mae enjoyed being outside, gardening and tending her flowers.
