Michael Eugene Park went to be with our Lord and Savior on March 22, 2021, at Springfield Regional Hospital after a long and courageous fight. Thank you to the doctors and nurses for taking such good care of Mike.
Mike was born on August 14, 1962, in Melbourne, Florida to Clermont “Gene” and Ruth (Hamrick) Park.
He graduated from Graham High School in 1981, and joined the Navy in 1983, he was a Boiler Technician on the USS Trippe and saw the world. Mike also did two years of Naval Reserves before leaving the Navy in 1989.
He worked at Auria in Sidney, OH for over 30 years and very much enjoyed the people he worked with.
He was a black belt in Karate and a talented musician playing the drums, guitar and singing vocals.
Mike was of Native American descent and with family, friends and the O.N.A.A. put together the Powwow at the Kiser Lake Sportsman Club and at George Rogers Clark Park for many years. He was the Arena Director at the Sidney Powwow for the last few years and he was truly honored.
Mike is survived by his father Gene Park and his wife Edith West-Park, his sons Brandon (Jenni) Park of Sidney and Jayme (Stephanie) Park of Columbus, his sisters, Denise Milhoan of West Virginia, Lisa (Jim) Copes of Conover, Michelle Chester of St. Paris, seven grandchildren; Memphis, Bradley, Brayden, Gavin, Jaden, Dylan and Brandon and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and good friends.
In addition to his mother Ruth Park, a niece Amber Park and brother-in-Law Kenneth Milhoan preceded him in death.
The family would like to thank cousins Mary Dennehy and John Strausbaugh for their support. Tim, Roxie and Jade Maloney for making Mike and his family a part of their family and Pastors James Van Zile and Jeremy Spence.
There will be a gathering for family and friends on Thursday, April 8, 2021 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m in the Atkins-Shively Funeral Home, 216 S. Springfield St., St. Paris, OH. Masks are required and social distancing is encouraged.
