Frances Mae (Rosenberg) Bowsman, age 92 of Fletcher, OH passed away on December 9, 2021 in the Miami Valley Hospital, Dayton, OH. Born on January 27, 1929 in Benton Harbor, Michigan she was a daughter of the late Claude and Hazel (Curtis) Rosenberg.
She married Milton W. “Buck” Bowsman on Sept. 4, 1954 and he preceded her in death on December 24, 2001. Together they raised three children, two of whom survive: Sandy (Jack) Walker of Casstown, OH and Jennifer and (Dan) VanNess of Alexandria, OH. She was a loving grandmother to ten grandchildren: Molly (Matt) Murphy of Flowery Branch, GA, Megan Calicoat of Troy, OH, Staci Bruggeman of Tipp City, OH, Leandra and Tansi Bowsman both of Painesville, OH, Kristen VanNess of Columbus, Kurt VanNess (Carmen Beck) of Christ Church, New Zealand, Kate VanNess of Seattle, WA, Kyle VanNess of Seattle, WA, Kevin VanNess of Salt Lake City, UT; and six great grandchildren: Caleb and Colton Murphy, Cody Calicoat, Lily, Nathan and Isaiah Bruggeman. She is also survived by a daughter-in-law, Pam Bowsman of Painesville, OH.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son Andy Bowsman, two sisters, Claudine Ross and Jean Kuschel, and a brother Neil Forbes.
Fran was a graduate of Wright State University with a degree in Elementary Education. She taught for St. Patrick’s Catholic School and she retired in 1987 from Miami East School District. Before she became a teacher she was an airline stewardess for Eastern Airlines. Fran enjoyed playing Bridge with her friends and cards with her grandchildren. She loved to read and kept a list of all the books she read each year. She formerly enjoyed golf. She enjoyed swimming and walking her dog Ruby, following the OSU Buckeyes and traveling the USA and overseas.
Visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, December 17, 2021 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. in the Suber-Shively Funeral Home, 201 W. Main Street, Fletcher, Ohio.
