Earmel Dotson

March 10, 1955 ~ September 11, 2022 (age 67)


Earmel Dotson, 67, of Conover, passed away peacefully on September 11, 2022 in his residence.

He was born on March 10, 1955 to the late James and Wanema (Scott) Dotson.

Earmel married Cathy Spellman and she preceded him in death in 2017. Together they raised three children, Ashley Dotson (James Adkins) of Conover, Michael Dotson (Ashley Cost) of DeGraff and the late Teresa Lockwood. He is also survived by three grandchildren, Katlynn Dotson, Chelsie Dotson and Travis Lockwood and four great grandchildren, Brayden Leigh, Sy’rhia, Legacy and Ezra Davis and his stepmother, Kimmy Dotson (Tony Wallace). Additional survivors include four brothers, James (Jane) Dotson, Steve (Debbie) Dotson, David (Ernie) Dotson, Timmy (Cindy) Dotson and three sisters, Diane (Dennis) Casey, Nellie (Doug) Hoff and Patty Miller, several nieces and nephews and many special family and friends.

In addition to his wife, daughter and parents, two sisters, Lois Moore and Debbie Samuel’s, preceded Earmel in death.

Earmel graduated from Sidney High School and attended Clark State Community College. He worked for Heartland Nursing Home for many years before getting sick. He was a member of the Primitive Baptist Church, Urbana. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and bowling.

A celebration of Earmel’s life will be held at a later date.  Arrangements are being handled by Atkins-Shively Funeral Home.
