China Marie Stapleton, age 31, of St. Paris, Ohio passed away on September 12, 2022 at 8:18 p.m. as a result of injuries sustained in a car accident on September 10, 2022.
Born on September 22, 1990 in Lima, Ohio, China was the daughter of Kevin Stapleton (special friend Emily) of Florida, and Rhonda (Tim) Harmon of Quincy.
In addition to her father, mother and stepfather, China is survived by her fiancé, Chet Tobias and their children: Channing, and Chayce Tobias, and Collin, Chloe, Ashton and Aislynn Tobias, and a grandson, Callum Tobias. A brother Ryan (Melissa) Degan of Lima, a sister, Misty Stapleton of Bryan, OH, her maternal grandmother, Vivian Hines, and many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends also survive.
China was preceded in death by her brother, Derek Middendorf, maternal grandfather, Bernard Hines, and Paternal grandparents Donald Stapleton and Crata Cavinder.
China was a 2008 graduate of Graham High School. She was currently employed by Studebaker’s Country Restaurant of Urbana. In her spare time China enjoyed thrifting and photography. She took many pictures of sunsets that she shared with her sister Misty. She loved working with her fellow employees at Studebaker’s.
Her family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Kettering Medical Center and Life Connections for their care and consideration they have shown to China and her family during the process of donating her organs.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Sunday, September 18, 2022 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. in the Atkins-Shively Funeral Home, 216 S. Springfield Street, St. Paris, Ohio.
The family suggests considering becoming an organ donor in memory of China. This may be done at the license bureau when renewing your driver’s license.
