Gertrude “Trudy” Wray, age 90 of Casstown, OH passed away at 1:20 am on Thursday, November 1, 2018 in the Hospice Unit at Upper Valley Medical Center, Troy. Born on April 3, 1928 in Akron, OH she was the daughter of the late James and Jennie (Herbert) Warner. On April 21, 1951 she married Harry Allen Wray and he survives. Other survivors include two daughters, Linda (Robert) Bowers of Northwood, OH, Rebecca (Wayne) Eckert of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, and one son, James “Jimmy” Wray of Huron, OH. She was a loving grandmother to eight grandchildren, Christopher Eckert of Florida, Sara, Alan and Alexis Katafiasz, Leeza Bowers, all of Toledo and Jameson, Matthew and Deryk Wray, all of Huron and five great grandchildren, Blake, Hunter, Bryant, Emmorie and Lovella. Also surviving is a sister: Mrs. Jane Hughes of Suffield, OH and one brother, Charles Warner of Atlanta, GA along with numerous nieces and nephews.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Lela Caporaletti.Trudy was a member of Lostcreek United Church of Christ where she held offices as the clerk, Sunday school superintendent, and women’s fellowship officer. She was also a member of the Staunton Grange, Troy Senior Citizens, and the Miami County Extension Homemakers where she served as county president for several years. She also belonged to the Miami County Home Economics Organization and was a 4-H advisor. She judged numerous county and state fairs for over 20 years at many different venues.Trudy graduated from The Ohio State University cumma sum laude with a degree in Home Economics. She taught a total of 28 years in the Miami East school district, Piqua Bennett Junior High and Sidney High School where she taught both Home Economics and Art. She was a member of the Alpha Delta Kappa Teacher’s Honorary Sorority and a member of the Miami County Retired Teachers Association. Visitation for family and friends will be held on Monday, November 5, 2018 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the Suber-Shively Funeral Home, 201 W. Main Street, Fletcher, OH 45326. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 6, 2018 in the Lostcreek United Church of Christ, 7007 E. Troy-Urbana Road, Casstown, OH 45321 at 10:30 a.m. with Reverend Jason Egbert presiding. Burial will follow in Casstown Cemetery.
