Bruce A McCulla

September 23, 1930 ~ September 12, 2012 (age 81)

Bruce Albert McCulla, age 81, of Saint Paris passed away at 6:21 p.m. on Wednesday, September 12, 2012 in the Springfield Regional Medical Center. Born on September 23, 1930 in Clark County, Bruce was a son of the late Charles H. and Harriet (Doxsee) McCulla. He married Imogene Wilkins on February 3, 1952 and she preceded him in death on June 12, 2001. He married Norma (Cotterman) Leasure on May 22, 2004 and she survives. Three sons also survive: Jeffrey (Leta) McCulla, Jonathon (Deborah) McCulla and Joel (Jill) McCulla all of St. Paris; seven grandchildren, Yvette (Calvin) Clutter of Hilliard, Nicholas (Leigh Ann) McCulla of Medway, Vance McCulla, Justin (Ashly) McCulla, Lindsey (Nicholas) Guidera all of St. Paris; Jennifer (Judd) Paul of Xenia, and Christina Hinger of Vandalia, He was a proud great grandfather to: Evan McCulla, Aliyssa Paul, Andrea Motten, Drew Motten, Carson McCulla, Adelyn Guidera and a great granddaughter Landry McCulla on the way. Bruce is also survived by four step children: Rhonda (Keith) White, Katie (Michael) Miller, Laura (Tony) Eckstein, all of St. Paris, Jerry Leasure of Romulus, MI. nine step grandchildren: Luke (Jessica) White, Emily (Matthew) Turner, Olivia White, Grant Rogers, Beau (Elisabeth) Rogers, Ben (Megan) Eckstein, Hannah Walling, Lydia Eckstein, Margaret Eckstein, and fourteen step great grandchildren: Baylie White, Lexiss White, Sophia White, Savanah Williamson, Hailee Williamson, Lilah Turner, Ella Turner, Alice Rogers, Riley Eckstein, Millie Eckstein, Eva Eckstein, William Walling, Micah Walling, and Abram Walling. Bruce is also survived by a brother, Charles McCulla of Troy, two brothers-in-law, Robert (Carol) Wilkins and Willard Grieser of St. Paris, a sister-in-law, Constance Bailey of Urbana and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and first wife, Bruce was preceded in death by two grandsons, Ben Hinger and Ryan McCulla, three sisters, Thelma Grieser, Rose Phares, Eleanor Heaston and a brother, Robert McCulla. Bruce was a 1950 graduate from Christiansburg-Jackson High School. He retired in 1992 from Hobart Brothers, Troy and was formerly employed by Wolfe Florist in St. Paris. Bruce was an active member of the St. Paris First Baptist Church and the church choir. He was also a charter member of the Mitchell Field Association. Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 17, 2012 at 11:00 am in the First Baptist Church, 138 W. Plum St., St. Paris, Ohio with Rev. Dr. James VanZile presiding. Burial will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery, St. Paris. A time of visitation for family and friends will be held on Sunday, September 16, 2012 from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. in the Atkins-Shively Funeral Home, 216 S. Springfield St., St. Paris, Ohio.
