Brock David Comer

April 19, 1994 ~ January 2, 2019 (age 24)

Brock D. Comer, age 24, of Sidney, OH and formerly of St. Paris, OH passed away as a result of a traffic accident on Wednesday, January 2, 2019 near Sidney.  Born on April 19, 1994 in Springfield, OH, Brock is survived by his mother and stepfather, Julie (Beard) and Scott Urquhart of Saint Paris, OH and his father and stepmother, Todd and Tanya Comer of Urbana, OH. Brock was a 2012 graduate of Graham High School, where he was a member of the golf team and was the first student at Graham to serve as the state treasurer for the Business Professionals Association. He attended Otterbein University, and was currently enrolled in online classes to finish his degree in Security Management.  He was a proud member of the Ohio Army National Guard and was serving in Alpha Battery, 1st Battalion of the 134th Field Artillery Regiment, Delaware, OH as a Fire Direction Center Chief.  He was responsible for technical fire direction, ensuring all 105-millimeter howitzer rounds are shot safely and accurately. Sgt. Comer was responsible for the care, welfare and training of eight subordinate soldiers.  His dedication to duty and excellence in all aspects, personal and professional will be greatly missed by his unit. He loved being a soldier. He was currently employed by Orkin of Sidney. Brock stayed physically fit and in his spare time he loved to cook.  Brock will be sadly missed by his parents, his siblings, Abigail Urquhart of St. Paris, OH, Todd A Comer of Springfield, OH, and Raegan (Matt Stutz) Eggleston of Urbana, OH. He is also survived by his maternal grandparents. Dave and Bonnie Beard of Urbana, OH, and grandmother, Jackie Day of Enon, OH; paternal grandparents, Connie and Jerry Huxley of Urbana, OH, and Dana and Sylvia Plecker of Indian Lake, OH, a host of aunts, uncles and cousins.  He leaves behind the love of his life, Nicole Colarusso of Sidney, and her parents, Lou and Caroline Colarusso of Macedonia, OH, and his best friends Joshua Cluney, Michael “Probie” Faircloth, and Adam Shockey. Brock was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Carl Urquhart, paternal grandfather, Gerald Bean, paternal great grandmother Dorothy Jones, paternal great grandparents Iolene and Harry Comer, and an uncle Gerald Bean III. Visitation for family and friends will be held on Monday, January 7, 2019 from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the Atkins-Shively Funeral Home, 216 S. Springfield Street, Saint Paris, Ohio 43072.  A private funeral service will be held at the convenience of the family.  In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations to the Brock D.
